TO: EEE VOLUNTEERS OCTOBER 17, 2020
FROM: ALAN WHITE, PRESIDENT EEE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
THIRD QUARTER 2020 UPDATE
While EEE was on alert several times during the traditional fire season, the County did not experience a major wildfire incident although there were very large wildfires to the north, east, south, and west of us. We are very pleased and count our blessings. Our sister organizations in California have not been so fortunate.
COMMUNICATIONS:
EEE successfully completed a drill to test the new communications equipment that has been obtained. Using the 25’ mast antenna that our Comms Team built, reliable and high-quality communications were achieved across the County using the mountaintop signal repeaters that are used by several other volunteer response units.
This provides the needed redundancy required for operations in remote areas where cell coverage is spotty or nonexistent.
STAFFING AND TRAINING:
The following volunteers were elected to the EEE Board of Directors:
Suzi Harrick – Volunteer Coordinator
Margaret Kearns – Secretary/Treasurer
Carol Fontana and Linda Hess participated in a drill with the LASER shelter group at the Rodeo Grounds. It was useful to both groups and effective links were established.
OUTREACH:
We have obtained a banner with our logo and photograph suitable for events, parades, etc. We have also obtained 1,000 refrigerator magnets with our Hotline phone number which are available for broad distribution.
EEE participated in a project sponsored by the Yavapai COAD (Community Organization Active in Disaster) to deliver PPE’s to four remote towns in the County. Our rack cards were provided to the individual Fire Departments at this time.
The EEE Staging Area owners/managers continue to provide valuable real-time information on wildfires in their areas. EEE obtained one new Staging Area during the quarter that is located in Skull Valley.
FUNDRAISING AND DONATIONS:
It has been determined that EEE needs to obtain a trailer to transport the equipment that we have (and will have) accumulated to staging areas around the County. At this point, we have communications gear, horse-related items and tables/chairs/etc. Needed to manage a staging area.
It is agreed that a fundraising campaign should be created that is focused on obtaining the trailer. A team has been named to determine the specifications needed for the trailer and another team is creating the campaign plan and timeline.
